
Sharron “Charito” Henley
Ms. Sharron L. Henley, also known as “Charito”, is a Native of Miami, Florida. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Oakwood University and Master of Arts degree in New Media Journalism from Full Sail University. She is a certified educator with Florida Department of Education and former Test Camp Administrator for The College Board Florida Partnership.
Ms. Henley currently serves as Vice President of Program Operations for The Urban League of Greater Miami, Inc. an affiliate of the National Urban League and a United Way Agency. She also served as a part-time adult education teacher in District 2 for Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
As an educator, ordained minister, and non-profit program management specialist, she has more than 25 years of experience in working with minorities on educational attainment, crime prevention, housing, parental involvement, and self-sufficiency in South Florida.
She was recognized by Yale University in partnership with Merrill Lynch Philanthropic Fund’s Merrill Lynch ScholarshipBuilder®2000 Program and the National Urban League as a Best Practice Model for Minority Youth Programs, supporting educational initiatives, and public policy issues in South Florida.
She is a recipient of the 2023 US President’s Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest level of recognition bestowed on an individual, by the President of the United States, to honor individuals in the nation, that exhibit outstanding character, work ethics, and dedication to their communities.
As a journalist on her radio show, Conversations With Charito at Excitement Radio Station, she specializes in topics related to Anger Management, Effective After-School Programs, Breast Cancer Awareness, Child Care, C0VID-19, Domestic Violence, Education, Elder Abuse, Etiquette, Financial Literacy, Identity Theft, Public Policy, Grant Writing, HIV/AIDS/STD/STI Awareness, Human Trafficking Awareness, Non-Profit Management, Parental Involvement, Peer Pressure, STEM, Self-Esteem, Work Ethics, and Single-Parenting.
She continues to embrace her Black and Hispanic cultures, by bringing cultural awareness to the community through her non-profit organization; Urban Community Connections, Inc., managed by Conversations With Charito, LLC.
Ms. Henley is an active and dedicated board member to the National Council of Negro Women Metropolitan Dade County Section, Inc., North Miami Beach Police Department’s Police Athletic League (PAL) and The Historic Georgette’s Tea Room.
